General assembly at SUSUES: Status after the first six months
The project group behind SUSUES gathered in Umeå for the first general assembly, where they presented a rundown of the first six months of the project, shared preliminary results and discussed the next steps. The meeting took places at the University Hospital of Umeå, where there was also time for a tour at the department Endoscopy at the hospital.

Six months of experience and progress
At the general assembly, the project group could after six months of work present the first results and the gained experience from the project.
The focus has been to get off to a good start with the activities and several could report on the initial results of these activities. Various research and analyses is already underway, especially, the climate perspective of the project’s sustainability focus has been off to a great start, where the life cycle assessment (LCA) shall unveil, along the way, the environmental impact of the two types of equipment.
The project group discussed and exchanged knowledge on how both countries’ health services manage to balance sustainability, economics and clinical safety in terms of endoscopes. Towards the end of the day, the atmosphere where buzzing with expectations for the upcoming project periods.
Tour at the department of Endoscopy
A highlight from the meeting was the tour at the department of Endoscopy at the University Hospital of Umeå (NUS), where the project group got a detailed walk-through of the use of endoscopes at the hospital.
The staff at the unit presented their routines, sterilization procedures and the use of endoscopes. It was a valuable opportunity to understand where there is similarities and differences, and how sustainability initiatives can be integrated into the daily practice at the unit.
